16-11-2021
After the establishment of the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) by the European Union, the transnational prosecutor's office started its activities starting from 1 June 2021, both in the Luxembourg headquarters, as well as in the twenty-two (22) decentralized offices set up in the individual Member States.
In Italy there are as many as 20 European Delegated Prosecutors, divided into nine offices throughout the country.
In light of the powers attributed to the European Public Prosecutor's Office for investigations into crimes affecting the financial interests of the Union, as well as the prerogatives of the Delegated Prosecutors and the provision, by the Minister of Justice, of the SICP computer register, already in used by the national prosecutors, the National Forensic Council has signed a memorandum of understanding with the EPPO so that the Parties commit to the joint implementation of synergistic actions, aimed at the promotion and dissemination of best practices relating to the identification of the modalities for regulating requests for information, pursuant to art. 335 c.p.p., formulated by the lawyers of persons who have been registered in the register of suspects of the European Public Prosecutor's Office.
The register has been called SICP-EPPO and, with the signed Protocol, the rules for the dissemination and identification of good practices have been established, but also the concrete methods of access to this register have been regulated.
