Doctors acquitted for the death of a little patient
17-06-2011
A pediatrician and a surgeon on trial, according to the court, are not responsible for the death of the 3-year-old boy, but the documents go back to the prosecutor's office because perhaps someone had to treat the little one in the last hours of his life.
The two doctors, a pediatrician and a surgeon were acquitted by the Varese court, accused of manslaughter over the death of little Tarusha, the three-year-old Sinhalese boy who died in the Varese hospital in 2007, probably from intestinal obstruction not treated in time. However, the judge sent the documents to the prosecutor's office to clarify why, on the morning of the death, for several hours, i.e. from 10.30 to 15.00, there was no trace of medical intervention.
In fact, the medical record did not report any treatments, but it is not clear whether the doctors on duty kept an eye on the clinical situation or not. The two doctors on trial had instead examined the little one the day and night before his death. In the meantime, the family members have already been compensated.
