Tax crimes: Fabrizio Busignani secures acquittal for a board member of an oil and gas company

The Court of Varese today acquitted a Board Member of a company formerly operating in the Oil & Gas sector, represented by Attorney Fabrizio Busignani, of the charge of failing to pay withholding taxes due on the relevant tax return, amounting to over €1,600,000.00.

During the lengthy trial, numerous witnesses were examined who confirmed the non-existence of the crime alleged by the Varese Prosecutor's Office, given that the company had complied with its legal obligations, including during the composition with creditors phase, and given the complete lack of evidence of alleged unlawful conduct by the Public Prosecutor.

Conversely, from the documentation submitted and the statements of defense witnesses, it emerged that the actions of the company's Board Member—including those relating to tax and social security—were entirely lawful.
